Do I need a visa to Thailand?
Since December 2024, Thailand has introduced Electronic Entry Permit (ETA). It is disposable and free. In case of a repeat trip, this permit must be issued again. This permit should be fully operational in June 2025. It is necessary to apply for an ETA on the official website thaievisa.go.th .
For citizens of many countries, including Ukraine, Kazakhstan and other CIS countries, as well as countries of the European Union, the USA, Canada, Australia and a number of other countries, a visa-free regime is in effect. Tourists from these countries can stay in Thailand without a visa for up to 60 days, with the possibility of extending it for another 30 days through the migration service. However, it is important to remember that even with visa-free entry, you must obtain an ETA.
The most popular types of visas:
- Tourist visa,
- Work visa,
- Business visa,
- Student visa,
- The Digital Nomad Visa for remote workers and freelancers is issued for a period of up to 5 years.
Since July 15, 2024, changes in the migration policy have been announced, among which is the approval of five—year visas for digital nomads. Thailand attracts digital nomads with excellent infrastructure, affordable and high-speed Internet, especially in major cities such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and the islands. The cost of living is relatively low, which makes it comfortable to work and travel.
