Arrival and transfer
Based on the above, it becomes clear that Schiphol airport is simply huge. Nevertheless, it consists of only one terminal, which is divided into 3 large zones. From each one you can access certain piers where the gates are located.
If you have a transfer at Schiphol during your trip, then at the first departure point you should be given a boarding pass for the connecting flight, as well as the necessary information on how to transfer at the airport.
You will need about 40 minutes to transfer to domestic flights in Europe, and about 50 minutes for external and intercontinental flights (provided that there are no force majeure and there will be no need to re—check your luggage). Despite the fact that the airport is really one of the best in the world in terms of service and works like clockwork, you should not take flights with a connection of less than 1.5 hours.
If for some reason you do not have a boarding pass for the next flight, you can get it at the check-in desk or at self-service vending machines (we will talk about them later). You will also need to go through passport control, get a stamp on entry into the Eurozone and undergo a pre-flight inspection (personal belongings, clothes, etc.).
If you do not have time to board a connecting flight, you are automatically booked for the next flight in the specified direction, and new tags are pasted on your luggage.
