The cheapest way to get to Prague is by direct train from Ukraine to the Czech Republic. In the spring of 2024, the Czech railway company opened a new route between the Ukrainian city of Chop, which is located near the border with Hungary, and the capital of the Czech Republic. This is the first direct train that connects Ukraine with the Czech Republic.
How to get from Ukraine to Prague by train
The Czech railway company RegioJet offers several route options for getting by train from Ukraine to the Czech Republic with a transfer in the Ukrainian city of Chop or in Polish Przemysl:
- Kiev – Chop – Prague
- Kiev – Przemysl – Prague
- Zaporizhia – Przemysl – Prague
- Kharkiv – Przemysl – Prague
Trains from Kiev, Zaporizhia and Kharkov pass through Lviv and other cities of Ukraine. From Przemysl, RegioJet trains can reach the Polish city of Krakow and the Czech cities of Ostrava, Brno, Olomouc, Pardubice and Prague. For more information, train routes from Ukraine to the Czech Republic are shown on the RegioJet website.
Train delays often occur in this direction due to passengers’ non-compliance with border crossing rules. The carrier warns passengers about the heavy fines that are now provided for in case of violation of the rules for transporting personal belongings across the border.

To Prague with transfer at Chop station
- Train No.081K Kiev 20:37 Chop 12:59. The cost of tickets in a reserved carriage is 280 UAH, in a compartment – 620 UAH. At the Chop station, passengers go through border and customs control, which takes some time – about two hours.
- RegioJet train No.442K Chop – Prague departs Chop at 17:35 and arrives in Prague at 5:46. The journey time will be about 13 hours and 30 minutes. The ticket price starts from 24 euros (approximately 1000 hryvnia) for seats and from 39 euros (approximately 1600 hryvnia) for sleeping places. The ticket price includes free drinks, coffee, breakfast and Wi-Fi access. Lunch and dinner are available for an additional fee.

How to get to Prague via Przemysl?
You can get to Przemysl by train from several cities in Ukraine:
- Train No. 715 Kiev – Przemysl (Intercity+) departs from the Ukrainian capital daily at 12:06 and arrives in Przemysl at 19:20, passing through Vinnytsia, Khmelnitsky, Ternopil and Lviv. The ticket costs about 1300 hryvnia. A night train runs daily on the same route.
- Train No.089/073 Kharkiv – Kiev – Przemysl departs Kharkiv on even numbers at 13:32 and arrives in Przemysl the next day at 11:16, passing through Poltava, Kiev, Vinnytsia, Khmelnitsky, Ternopil and Lviv. The ticket price starts from 1600 UAH.
- Train No. 031 Zaporizhia – Przemysl departs from Zaporizhia daily at 20:54 and arrives in Przemysl at 15:21 the next day, passing through the Dnieper, Kamenskoye and Lviv.
- Train No.051/036 Odessa – Kiev – Przemysl departs Odessa daily at 14:41 and arrives in Przemysl the next morning at 4:53, passing through Kiev, Khmelnitsky, Ternopil and Lviv. The ticket price is about 1100 UAH.
Przemysl – Prague
- Train No.114 Przemysl – Prague (Intercity) departs at 22:10 and arrives at 6:37 the next morning. The passage passes through Krakow and Ostrava. The ticket price starts from 15.90 euros.
