The Irish Ministry of Justice reports the arrival of an average of 500 Ukrainian refugees into the country weekly.

From November 1 to December 20, 2023, 3,740 Ukrainians arrived who requested temporary protection. The number of refugees from Ukraine coming to Ireland remained stable during 2023, ranging from 2,000 to 4,000 people per month. Currently, 102,339 Ukrainians have received temporary protection in the country.

The Irish government expressed concern about the housing crisis back in 2022 due to the growing number of refugees on the island. The authorities have developed a mechanism to reduce support for migrants from Ukraine, trying to reduce the attractiveness of the country for them. Despite this, the situation has not yet undergone significant changes.

New updates for Ukrainians in Ireland

In December, the Irish government announced a significant reduction in payments for Ukrainians settled in state institutions from 220 euros to 38.80 euros per week.

After leaving public housing and starting self-rental, Ukrainians can apply for the full amount of social assistance.

In addition, the Irish authorities decided to limit gratuitous public housing for Ukrainians to 90 days. These changes will come into force on January 29 and will not apply to those who have already received temporary protection in Ireland.
