From Austria to France, Germany, Italy

The journey from Vienna to Paris has become more exciting thanks to the initiative of the Austrian railway company ÖBB, which restores sleeping trains in Europe under the Nightjet brand. Launched at the end of 2021, the new route connects Vienna and Paris via Salzburg and Munich. The train runs three times a week in both directions, and the journey lasts 14 hours. Ticket prices range from 30 euros for a shared seat to 120 euros and above for a private compartment.

In the summer of 2023, Nightjet introduced a new generation of trains with wireless charging stations, Wi-Fi, places for bicycles and sports equipment, as well as separate compartments with their own showers and toilets.

In the new schedule for 2023, Nightjet has expanded the route network of Vienna-Munich flights to Milan, Genoa and La Spezia in Italy, which makes it easy to transfer to trains to Monaco, Nice and Cinque Terre.

From France to Germany, Italy and Spain

This winter season, the convenient Paris-Bourg train returns, which will serve the route to the ski resort of Les Arcs. The train will run from December 14 to March 24, connecting the city of Burg with the Ark ski resort in seven minutes by funicular.

Also, from December 10, 2023, the ÖBB Nightjet night train will resume the Berlin-Paris route, offering three flights per week. With later service daily from autumn 2024.

France and Germany are planning to introduce a new TGV route between Paris and Berlin in 2024, which will reduce the travel time between the capitals to about seven hours, avoiding transfers that are now needed, for example, in Cologne or Frankfurt.
